Web design

Websites, made with a photographer’s eye.

Alongside photography, I design and build websites: the pages people see, and the tools behind them that the people running the business use every day. Two of them are below, rebuilt as working demos you can click through.

Sites I’ve built

Pick one and start clicking

Each one is a complete site and its owner tools, running in your browser. Nothing you do leaves your tab, and Reset demo at the top puts it all back.

The businesses are made up: each demo is based on a site I’ve built, with the name, photos and details swapped for fictional ones.

The details

Where the time goes

  1. 01

    Composition

The same things I look for behind the camera: light, balance and restraint. A page should feel calm, and the thing you came for should be the first thing you see.

  2. 02

    Less friction

For customers, fewer taps between wanting something and having it. For the people running the place, a holiday menu or a price change that takes a minute, not an afternoon.

  3. 03

    Things that run themselves

Banners that take themselves down after a cutoff, reminders that go out on time, and hours that update everywhere when they change once.

  4. 04

    Built to last

Fast on a phone, kind to search engines, private by default, and checked by automated tests before any change goes live.

A small detail I build under: azimuth, a photographer’s word for the sun’s bearing across the horizon. Finding the right angle is most of the work, in a photo or on a page.
